Looking back, and revising my blogs this morning i realized quite a few things. One being that i did not speak about the same form of media twice. This was a surprise to me, I didn't realize that i was that diverse in my use of media. Each one is vastly different, but I seem to use most of them for the same thing. I use them to communicate, or to make myself happy, just like the Christmas commercial made me happy. Each form of media has their own purpose, to inform, to entertain, and to persuade. I think each of the forms i spoke about has informed me in some way. Entertained me in another, and persuaded me to continue using these forms i currently interact with.

Thursday November 15th,

This morning at around 6:00 my roommate got up for work, I can usually hear her bustling around trying to get ready in our joint bathroom. She may or may not be the loudest person getting ready in the morning I have ever come in contact with. Not only does the blowdryer go on for what seams like eternity, but she is blaring music as well. This morning, thanks to the grace of God, she had on John Mayer. The slow peaceful morning tunes that never seem to make it to her phone each morning. I was beyond thankful for the first song she played, because once she picks one, they stay the same genera for the remainder of her getting ready time. As i laid quietly in my bed, I was thinking about writing this blog and what i would talk about. I thought about looking at my twitter news feed, or check on some of the on going conversations I had on facebook. When i realized that there was no need for any of that, my first interaction with social media wasn't even my doing. My roommate had done the honors for my by blasting pandora in our bathroom. I realized that I had chosen to respond positively to the sound of Slow Dancing in a Burning Room sweetly streaming under my door, instead of my typical reaction to Ke$ha screaming out from the other room. Causing me to scream right back. This morning i am thankful for soft rock, and pandora music for keeping it soft and not changing it to some upbeat loud music that is not suitable for six AM.

Wednesday, November 14th,

As I began to write this blog for the day I discovered I had not really used any form of social media that stood out to me. I have not been feeling well so all I had really done today was watch TV. This is when I discovered that, that was a form of media that I had interacted with all day. I saw my very first christmas commercial today. It was for Hersey's kisses. The one where the kisses are like little bells that play a christmas song. I absolutely love Christmas commercials, it is one of my favorite seasons to watch commercials in, other than the Superbowl of course. So naturally, I called my mother to tell her the good news about the Christmas sprit already being on TV, and she told me that they have been for a week or so now! That shows how much I use TV as my information source.

Tuesday November 13,

At about eight o'clock this morning my sister tagged me in a tweet along with my brothers and a few of my cousins. She was wanting us to know that she was beyond excited that we would all be seeing each other this day next week for Thanksgiving break. We then proceeded to all tweet at each other all day, laughing and talking like we were all together already. The fact that we have technology that allows us to communicate without a text message or a phone call is amazing to me. Sure there is Facebook, but twitter makes it more personal, sure people can see that you tweeted at someone, but they are not going to sit there and read your whole conversation like they would on facebook. Its one step closer to a private conversation. Twitter may be by far my favorite form of social media.

Monday November 12,

Today on Facebook my best friend, and cousin, Samantha tagged me in a post. We are both in the same sorority, but at different schools. She posted a video about our philanthropy, and told me to pass it along to all my other sisters. Texas Tech is in a competition for the Josh Abbot Band. They had to submit a video stating their philanthropy and what it is they do to help the community. There is a 5000 dollar prize to the sorority that presents their philanthropy in the best way. As i was passing along the video, I shared it on my pledge class Facebook wall, a place where only girls in my pledge class can post. I then shared it on the Arkansas Chi Omega page, where alumni and other girls in my chapter, other than just my pledge class, could access it. Finally i posted it to my own Facebook wall, where people who do not go to the UofA or know anything about Chi Omega could view it. I then sat back and realized that by posting this same video in all of these places i had given the Texas Tech girls the most amount of coverage on social media i could find. There was no where else for me to post it, I had covered all of my bases. It never ceases to amaze me how many people a person can reach on social media such as Facebook.
Sunday November 11th, while traveling back to Fayetteville from Norman I was engaged in a few different stations on the radio. One in particular caught my attention, every six or seven minutes it seemed a radio announcer would come on and talk about Celebrity gossip. It was never the full story of course, just a tid bit to make everyone stay tuned to find out the rest on his next comercial. This tactic was genius to me. I sat there in awe, fully aware of what this man was doing, but completely incapable of changing the channel. It made me wonder how many people were just like me listning. People who know he is only doing it to get them to listen to the top 40 songs again and again just to hear about what  celerity messed up this time. Kid Critic and his fellow announcers have figured out the system. If they make listeners believe they will miss something huge by changing the channel they will have as many teenagers and young twenties listeners tuned in as possible at all times. It was genius!
